There are three levels to the "lore" of the Baldur's Gate game series.
First and foremost is the lore of the gameworld itself, i.e., via the video games and accompanying printed materials. I.e., what is told directly within the game.
The second level is the broader source material of the official Forgotten Realms setting, which may or may not always square with the gameworld's lore.
And the third level is each player's own unique and creative imagination in filling in gaps and fleshing out details.
Thus we offer a section for each:
BG1's In-Game Lore
Forgotten Realms Sword Coast Lore
BG1 "Fanon"
Our 'In-game' and 'Fanon' sections would spoil a new player. We recommend a virgin playthrough of the game before perusing the material there.
